Dirk Löhr studied social and economic sciences in Bochum. His doctoral thesis dealt with company valuations, his Habilitation thesis with strategies of corporate succession. After a period as research assistant and freelance work for a company of tax consultants Dirk Löhr was a Prokurist (authorized representative) for an international hotel group until 1995 where he handled the group's accounting, finance and tax affairs. In 1996 he moved to Deutsche Bahn AG where he was a senior departmental manager in Frankfurt am Main. Parallel to this he sat on the supervisory board of DB Dialog GmbH.

At the end of 1997 Dirk Löhr accepted an invitation as professor for general economics, accounting and tax at Trier University of Applied Sciences.

Since 2001 he has also worked for the law firm as a tax consultant.

Dirk Löhr has authored numerous contributions to journals on subjects of tax, accounting and company valuation. He is a member of the expert committee for valuing land and property in the Landkreis Birkenfeld.
