Martin Andreas Duncker studied in Heidelberg and after his first state law examination he did his doctorate under Prof. Dr. Brigitte Tag at the University of Zurich. He wrote his doctoral thesis on legal medical issues related to Swiss and German law. He completed his legal traineeship at the Heidelberg Regional Court, followed by further periods gaining legal work experience in Mannheim and Detroit (Michigan/USA).

Martin Andreas Duncker was admitted to practise as a lawyer in December 2007. His work at Schlatter encompasses banking and capital markets, commercial and business law. His clients stem primarily from the financial services, payment services and capital investments sectors.

He has completed the training as specialist lawyer in the field of banking and capital markets and is a member of the German Bar Association (Deutscher Anwaltsverein) and the Heidelberg Bar Association.
