Our founder: Dr Paul Schlatter
The law firm was founded in 1946 by Dr Paul Schlatter (1905-1991). At the age of only 22 he sat his first state law examination, then completed his doctorate and for a brief period worked as a judge and deputy notary. He then established his own legal practice in Heidelberg.
Dr Paul Schlatter was qualified both as a lawyer and tax consultant with the result that his firm soon made a name for itself in tax consultancy as well as legal advice.
He was awarded the First Class Federal Cross of Merit (Bundesverdienstkreuz Erster Klasse) and the Honorary Award of German Lawyers (Ehrenzeichen der Deutschen Anwaltschaft) for his central role in re-establishing the Heidelberg Bar Association whose chairman he was from 1961 to 1981. Between 1949 and 1972 he was on the board of the Karlsruhe Chamber of Lawyers (Rechtsanwaltskammer Karlsruhe).
